Beans: Do you eat them often?
I know these are a soft food, and we should ideally stick to "hard" proteins, but beans are interesting to me because of the high fiber content. (I'll spare you the poop problems details...)
So, for those who are 6 months out -- how often do you eat beans as the primary part of your meal?
I'm pre-VSG but planning. Thanks in advance!
As the primary part of my meal? Rarely. But I'll serve them as a side every few months and have a bite or two. I also occasionally have meals/weekends where I eat vegan and I guess beans are my primary protein source at those times. But that probably happens no more than 4 times a year. (My bff is vegan, so I eat vegan with her at times.)
For fiber, I use Benefiber in my morning shake and have bites of veggies with dinners.

I ate baked beans as a meal regularly when I was on pureed. I still eat them a few times a month for lunch.
My dietician recommends them. She is also very happy with my progress. I journal every bite of food that goes into my mouth, and she is pleased with my food choices, so it's never been an issue for me.

Beans are a good source of protein and fiber. I'm only 2 1/2 months post-op, but I eat beans at least 5 times a week as my protein source. I have more energy than I've had in 10 years -- no exaggeration. As for poop problems, I eat 2 prunes every evening with a cup of herbal tea. Very, very helpful.

Beans are more of a maintenance food for me.
